Saint Michael's College student, Maria Gutierrez, daughter of Uriel Gutierrez of Miami and Maria Buitrago of Sarasota, is studying abroad for the spring 2012 semester. Gutierrez, a junior sociology major, is studying at Academic Programs International, John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. Gutierrez graduated from Riverview High School before coming to Saint Michael's.

More than a third of Saint Michael's students take advantage of the opportunity to spend a semester, academic year or summer abroad. The college offers programs in five categories: language programs, university liberal studies courses, international service programs, internship programs and field study programs.
